Reese Witherspoon Resurrects Her Famous Blunt Bangs
Reese Witherspoon is taking us back a decade. On May 15, the actor and producer shared a glimpse at her recent Mother’s Day celebrations, while also showing off a new look. In photos making silly faces at brunch with her sons Deacon and Tennessee and mom Betty, Witherspoon has a fresh set of blunt bangs grazing her eyelids. Though she technically debuted the style a few weeks prior in an Instagram post with Laura Dern, this is the first time Witherspoon offered a full peek at the chop.
It’s been years since we’ve seen Witherspoon with the hairstyle – she last sported side bangs in 2017, and a full-on blunt fringe in 2012. In fact, in January and February 2012, she wore an almost-identical haircut with long bangs during her press tour promoting “This Means War.”
Perhaps she was inspired by her daughter and occasional doppelgänger Ava Phillippe, who debuted “bottleneck” bangs in April. Resembling the neck of a bottle, the 23-year-old’s fringe started short in the middle and curved longer at the edges, skimming her cheekbones. With similar haircuts yet again, the mother-daughter duo will surely continue to be mistaken for one another.
Witherspoon and Phillippe aren’t the only stars who’ve been itching for a hair change. In just the last few weeks, Jessica Alba brought back her curtain bangs, Katy Perry tried a “tassel” ponytail with micro bangs, and Emily Ratajkowski got shaggy swoop bangs.
