Non-Sticky Lip Glosses For Your 2000s Club-Queen Alter-Ego
Lip gloss lovers leave your Lancôme Juicy Tubes at the door! While the 2000s are back, sticky lipgloss doesn’t have to be. We brought you our favourite non-sticky, high shine, hydrating formulas. No matter your preferred price point, you can keep your hair lip gloss free while you hit the dancefloor 2006-Lindsay Lohan style.
MCoBeauty, Lip Oil Hydrating Treatment, ($12)
The geniuses at McCo Beauty have mastered the art of the dupe. Their lip oil takes the best of beloved US brand Glossier’s version and delivers it at just $12 in your local supermarket aisle. Available in clear and lightly tinted, this lip oil is enriched with jojoba oil. It has all the hydration of a lip balm with the high shine finish of Lancôme Juicy Tube — sans stick.
DIOR, Dior Lip Glow Oil, ($57)
At the other end of the price spectrum, we have Dior Lip Glow Oil. You’ll have to waitlist yourself for this adored product. Dior Lip Oil uses the brand’s patented Colour Reviver technology (also used in their balm formula) to react with the PH of your lips and create a custom colour. Enriched with Cherry Oil, the product comes in five shades: Pink, Coral, Rasberry, Berry and “Holo Pink.” They have also released Rosewood and Cherry for winter. You can waitlist yourself at Sephora for these magic wands.
Can’t wait for Dior? Try Clarins Lip Comfort Oil, ($39)
With countless five star reviews on The Iconic, this Clarins’ potion is fast becoming the preferred Dior dupe. With six shades (we love the pictured on-trend cool-toned Rasberry), the formula is enriched with organic jojoba, sweetbriar rose oil and Hazelnut oil. Yum.
Clinique Black Honey, Almost Lipstick, ($41)
“Cult Classic” gets thrown around a lot in beauty. Often, it’s applied to products that are simply very popular. However, Clinique’s “Black Honey” lip colour deserves the title. Created in 1971, the transparent, deep raisin colour has been a top seller for Clinique since its launch. It’s so popular that when the “Almost Lipstick” range was discontinued, they kept “Black Honey”, making it a single shade SKU. TikTok has cottoned on, causing global sellouts and a slew of panicked beauty articles. Packed with oils, this protective formula provides luminous, lightweight shine. I love to dab on lips and cheeks for a monochromatic editorial look. Catch it while you can.
NYX, Butter Gloss, ($10)
Want more colour? NYX Butter Gloss provides medium coverage in ten shades. The gloss is long-wearing, giving the lips a slight base stain. We love to layer formulas like this over lipliners to add shine and dimension for a glossy, full-coverage, Kardashian-esque pout. Créme Brulee is a perfect pink for fair skin tones, while Praline and Ginger Snap are fantastic nudes for deeper skin tones or those looking for something neutral.
Yves Saint Laurent, Vernis Levres Water Lip Stain, ($59)
Want long-wear wet look colour? Look no further. The Yves Saint Laurent water lip stain formula has a weightless texture and provides long wear vibrant colour all day long. The heart-shaped applicator helps you apply colour precisely and achieve definition.
Westman Atelier, Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm, ($57)
Think of NYX Butter Gloss but all grown up. Westman Atelier’s Liquid Lip Balm will make your lips feel plush with an indulgent formula that nourishes with shea butter, argan, almond and jojoba oil. Westman atelier products are formulated without parabens, PEGs, phthalates and mineral oils and are all vegan. We get a shiver of pleasure every time we hear the “click” of their magnetic closures. Available in six super sophisticated shades.
Maybelline, Lifter Gloss Hydrating Lip Gloss, ($10)
These ultra glassy glosses provide super dimensional shine in just one swipe of an XL wand. With hyaluronic acid, the lip gloss is conditioning. But we love the colourways. Crystal will give your lips a wash of authentic ’90s J.Lo bronze.
