Lindsay Lohan Wore Monochrome Makeup, So Now I Want to Wear Monochrome Makeup

I miss being influenced by Lindsay Lohan, even when she was bad for me. 

As a troubled teen at a Catholic girl’s school, observing my “Mean Girls” idol’s free fall into chaos was bizarrely exhilarating. The world was watching, and Lindsay didn’t seem to give a rats. 

Sure, her auburn hair matched her fake tan a little too closely, and I worried about how she held up her Balenciaga City Bag (I also desperately wanted one). I also held a strong suspicion that Paris Hilton, just like my frenemies at school, was the source of all her troubles. 

But compared to the other chaotic girlies gracing the weeklies where I bought my three Diet Cokes on the way to being reprimanded for uniform violations, Lindsay was smart, funny and self-aware. Her family sucked, but she was talented (even Tina Fey thoughts so!) she’d been working since she was three (hustle!). She had my fourteen-year-old respect! 

So, when I saw her front row at Christian Siriano at New York Fashion Week, dressed in head-to-toe burnt copper I experienced a moment of unbridled joy.

Her tousled, Bridgette Bardot-half up, half down beehive was on point and polished, and her silky copper-accented Auburn locks toned perfectly with her Christian Siriano Ombre Wing Sleeved top and wide-legged trousers (we’d be placing pre-orders if we had a spare $2598USD). I haven’t wanted to “steal her style” since she rocked Tsubi jeans on the reg.

Even more groundbreaking? Her foundation exactly matched her pale princess skin tone, not her copper hair, something we haven’t seen for Linds since “The Parent Trap”.

But, for me, it was all about the monochrome beauty look full of sparkling coppers and rich peaches that had me dreaming of falling autumn leaves in New York City (do falling Autumn leaves feature in Falling For Christmas? I’m unsure).

Lindsay’s Monochrome Beauty Moment:

Makeup artist Kristofer Buckle opted for a single peachy-toned copper shadow swept across lids and blended out with a soft, chocolate eye pencil (think Lindt 60% dark chocolate) and flared lashes.

A satin finish peachy lip added a little luminescence, while soft apricot draped the apples of her cheeks, and bronzer was applied with masterful restraint.

Frustratingly, Buckle has his own makeup line, but it’s unavailable in Australia.

At a glance, I’d try a peachy copper shadow like Surrat Beauty, Cuivre ($37) and a creamy apricot lipstick like Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips 2 in “Angel Alessandra” ($55). Dab this creamy, slightly glossy lipstick on lips and the apples of your cheeks and you’ve got a peachy-golden flush.

If you want to ramp up the drama (as Lindsay did) then, blend out the lashline with a creamy chocolate eyeliner like Eye of Horus Goddess Pencil in Nubian Brown ($33) and finish with flared strip lashes like the Sephora Collection False Eyelashes in “Volume” ($15).
