Emma Chamberlain's '60s-Style Lob at the Met Gala Almost Made Us Forget What Year It Is
YouTube star Emma Chamberlain was one of the first celebrities to hit the red carpet at this year’s Met Gala, and her beauty look for the night did not disappoint. The star showed up to the event wearing a crystal-studded, asymmetrical Louis Vuitton dress with a triangle cutout in the torso area, but it’s her hair and makeup that made us do a double take.
To complement her dress – and to coincide with this year’s theme, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” – Chamberlain gave us a nostalgic beauty look in the form of some smoky eye makeup with neon accents and a lob with flipped-out ends. If we didn’t know what year it was, we’d think she was a ’60s supermodel.
The star’s makeup look was put together by celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan, who used the Byredo Eyeshadow 5 Colour palette for the pop of neon on her eyelids and a handful of Byredo beauty products to achieve her smokey eye. Her hair was styled by Laura Polko.
Much like the mullet and the shag haircut, we’ve seen the retro flipped bob slowly make a comeback among several celebrities this year, though it hasn’t popped up on many red carpets until now. Read ahead to get a closer look at Chamberlain’s ’60s-style look.
