The Deep French Mani Is Trending: Here’s All the Celebrity-Approved Inspo You Need
Somewhat surprisingly, the French manicure made a comeback a few years ago. Never did we think the white-tipped mani would re-enter the beauty zeitgeist but indeed it did. Following in the footsteps of the original is the ‘deep French manicure’.
The big difference between the original and the deep French manicure? The amount of space it takes up on the nail. While the French mani only covers the tip of the nail, the deep French mimics a similar shape but takes up more space. This gives you more room to play with colour and designs, making it a more whimsical option compared to the original.
And, a number of celebrities agree, with Bella Hadid seen rocking the style, while Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore a deep French to the 2021 BAFTA Awards. If you’re keen to give the style a go for yourself, here are a few of our favourite designs for you to draw inspiration from:
Rainbow Nails
If you’re ever in need of a little nail inspiration, make a beeline straight for @thehangedit on Instagram. Bright colours feature heavily in Hang Ngugen’s nail art and we’re head over heels in love with this multicoloured take on the deep French manicure.
Pistachio Dreams
Sydney-based artist Victoria Houllis, a.k.a @mannequin.hands, recently adorned a client with pistachio-coloured tips.
Shades of Blue
If you’re not so keen on the rainbow colour palette, try sticking to one single shade for your deep French, as Perth-based artist Toko Hutcheson (@angelcitynails) has here.
Geometric Goodness
Take inspiration from @nyahnailartist and play with negative space on your nails. The rule is there are no rules when it comes to the deep French mani.
Print Power
Go the whole hog and make your deep French manicure tips patterned with animal print, à la @sassnailartistry.
Clashing Colours
This beauty by @nails.by.jenna_ proves that pink and green should be seen together, always.
