These Lip Masks Will Change Your Dry, Chapped Lips Forever
Dry, cracked and dehydrated lips aren’t cute. In fact, they can be downright painful when lacking moisture. Your lips are put to the test every day — think of all the kissing, eating and laughing you do as well as environmental factors like wind and the sun. The amount of water you drink can also contribute to how hydrated (or dehydrated) your lips are.
In order to keep them in tip-top shape, consider using an overnight lip mask. These products are formulated to be deeply nourishing and when used at night, allows the product to really seep into the lips and lock in moisture. Not all lip masks are created equal, so here are a few of our favourites:
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
This cult lip treatment mask is much loved for a reason — it really does give you the most soft and supple lips of your life. Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask ($28) reduced flakiness and injects hydration into lips while also offering a plumping appearance. With four flavours — Berry, Grapefruit, Vanilla and Mint Choco — this mask includes Moisture Wrap™ Technology that forms a slow-releasing moisture layer over the lips to lock in active ingredients and mineral water.
Kiehl's Buttermask For Lips
Formulated with coconut oil and wild mango butter, the Kiehl’s Buttermask For Lips ($38) softens your lips while you sleep. This mask helps repair the lip moisture barrier so you’ll wake up with hydrated lips.
Burt's Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment
The Burt’s Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment ($12.99) is formulated with natural ceramides in order to reduce the appearance of fine lines while also helping to repair your lips natural moisture barrier, leaving them soft and smooth.
Bite Beauty Agave+ Nighttime Lip Therapy
The deeply hydrating Agave+ Nighttime Lip Therapy ($32) by Bite Beauty contains pomegranate extract, to give your lips an antioxidant boost, while the addition of jojoba, sunflower and safflower oils helps seals moisture into your lips. This product also has a unique balm-to-oil formula, so it starts as a solid but melts into your lips after application.
Aceology Overnight Lip Mask
Aceology’s Overnight Lip Mask ($59 for a pack of three) can be used as an overnight mask or to prep your lips before applying makeup. Formulated with coconut and olive oil, this mask moisturises and nourishes while resurfacing and reviving dry lips while you sleep. The addition of squalene helps lock in hydration so your lips stay soft long after you wake up.
